Aftertrackingmorethan20000peopleaged45-79yearsintheUnitedKingdomfromabout1993-2007Kay-TeeKhawoftheUniversityofCambridgeandhiscolleaguesfoundthatpeoplewhoadoptedthesefourhealthyhabitslivedanaverageof14yearslongerthanthosewhodidn’t.
“We’veknownforalongtimethatthesebehaviorsaregoodthingstodobutwe’venotseenthisbenefitbefore”saidSusanJebbheadofNutritionandHealthatBritain’sMedicalResearchCouncil.“Thebenefitwasalsoseenregardlessofwhetherornotpeoplewerefatandwhatsocialclasstheycamefrom.”
